The heavy duty Dana 80 is used in OEM applications by Chevy, Dodge, and Ford. Ford was the first to use the Dana 80, starting in 1988. It has straight axle tubes, a 10-bolt asymmetrical cover, and “80” cast in the housing. These units are full floating and made for use as rear axles only.
Strength wise, they are positioned above the Dana 70. They have a GAWR of up to 11,000lbs, but that rating is varied for OEM applications. Check out the specifications for each application so you can better shop for Dana 80 parts from CompleteOffroad.com.
